Questions
- How is the document type determined?
- An algorithm is used to classify the documents
- The CfA team used a set of documents to train the algorithm to learn different types of documents
- Don’t let the pre-defined document type be bothersome. It is just there to help you organize yourself. If can change it to a different category if it has been misclassified or if you think that it falls under something else
- When will this tool be available for us to access and will our content creators have access as well?
- The tool will be available to access after you get your log-in
- Access is given to anyone you determine needs access. Provide a list of emails and names for folks that you would like to have access for.
- Can you give the website again for us to login?
- Siteimprove has an area in the Accessibility module that addresses issues with PDFs. Which tool should we use?
- Both tools should be used
- Siteimprove helps identify issues in the PDFs and will help resolve other accessibility issues on your agency’s website
- The Code for America tool helps identify PDFs that need to be remediated
- Both tools should be used
- Do you recommend using the Code for America tool for certain types of documents and Siteimprove for others?
- It may take some trial and error to figure out what works the best for you and your team. From our perspective, the Code for America tool is more focused and can be an easier way to prioritize your work, see the insights, and chart your process.
- Does this tool correct the pdf?
- At this point the app, is really focused on the audit process. It doesn’t currently take action on the documents.
- How is the document type determined?
- When will this tool be available for us to access and will our content creators have access as well?
- If you are not part of GovHub, can you have access to the tool?
- The tool crawls any URL so you can be given access if you are an agency that does not use GovHub.
- Once we have all of the PDFs in compliance, going forward will this tool still be available to us once we have new PDFs to run through a checker to see if they’re compliant?
- We’re not sure how long this tool will be available, but it will be accessible for a good amount of time. At some point, you will want to move back to monitoring your accessibility through Siteimprove. We can discuss our process for how to best monitor going forward.
