Prior to joining GTA, Kat came from over 10 years of experience working at start-up companies as a hybrid software engineer and product manager. She brings a well-rounded background of experience in many industries and is excited to bring her knowledge and skills to the public sector.

Kat earned a Bachelor of Science in Digital Arts and Sciences, Cum Laude, from the University of Florida, which is a core computer science degree with special emphasis on human-computer interaction.

How would you explain your job to an alien?

It’s my job to be the expert for the Orchard Design System, which is a series of building blocks that developers can use to make government websites, so that they all look and function in a standard way. I help lead its planning, development, quality, and user adoption.

What Is one of your proudest accomplishments?

I was a founding leader for an employee resource group at one of my previous companies and was able to make great progress in advocating for benefits and policy changes across the company. I was a part of the flexible time off policy, getting the company ranked in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, making Juneteenth a holiday, extending fertility benefits, and more.

What does your mother think you do?

Make websites.

If you had your own late-night talk show who would be your first guest and why?

Chappell Roan because she seems down to earth, funny, and her rise to fame was so quick after working hard behind the scenes for 10 years. I’m sure she has some good stories to tell!
