Not a computer wizard? Not a problem.
Optimizing your search engine may seem like a daunting task. What kinds of things do you even need to do that? A Ghostbuster machine and a paper clip?
Lucky for all of us, it’s easier now than ever before to get our search engine optimization in tip-top shape. The reason behind this newfound ease of access is that modern SEO is all about creating a positive experience for users when they’re on your site. We’re going to take a look at Entrepreneur’s article that highlights some of the best ways to maximize your SEO ranking without going overboard on technicalities:
- Give your users a good onsite experience.
Okay, sounds easy enough … but what does it really mean? The goal here is to make your users feel comfortable when they visit your site. Don’t overcrowd the homepage, make your site mobile, keep the navigation simple and keep it aesthetically pleasing. Always keep the user in mind. - Create good content.
Content has been the reigning king of the Internet since Bill Gates declared it so, all the way back in 1996. So what does it mean to write good content? Make it relevant to your users. Make it approachable. Make it interesting, and don’t try to stuff it full of keywords. In the earlier days of search engines, keywords were how you climbed to the top. But now, Google doesn’t care nearly as much about a saturation of keywords as it cares about great content. - Be recognized as a trusted authority.
If this sounds like too tall of an order, don’t worry! It’s not as difficult as it might sound. The key here is to focus on building relationships with bloggers, fellow web content managers, and prominent social media voices. When you establish these personal connections, they’ll naturally link to your site at some point. - Get social!
Having a social media presence is only going to help you rank higher in major search engines. You can promote your web content and bring traffic to your site, interact with users directly, and build your brand with a consistent and quality social media presence.
See? You really don’t have to be super tech-savvy to get the best search rankings for your website. All it takes is a little basic content work and you can provide the best website possible for your users.
